A comprehensive speech-language evaluation is an in-depth assessment conducted by a licensed speech-language pathologist to diagnose speech and language disorders. Unlike a screening, an evaluation uses standardized tests, informal observations, and detailed analysis to create a complete picture of your child's communication abilities. Our evaluations include assessments of speech sound production, language comprehension and expression, fluency, voice quality, oral-motor skills, and social communication. The evaluation typically takes 60-90 minutes and includes engaging, developmentally appropriate activities.
What to Expect from Your Evaluation
A crucial component of our evaluation process is the detailed parent interview and case history, where we learn about your child's developmental milestones, health history, and communication concerns. At the conclusion of the evaluation, you'll receive a comprehensive report detailing our findings, including your child's strengths, areas of concern, whether your child qualifies for therapy, and specific recommendations for treatment. We discuss the results in a detailed consultation and answer all your questions. This evaluation becomes the foundation for developing an effective, personalized therapy plan.
